As the Congregational Sales Representative serving Lutheran congregations in the MidAtlantic and Northeast United States, my ministry is to help church leaders understand how Augsburg Fortress resources can support and enhance their ministry. I often brag that I get paid to talk with pastors and lay leaders about their ministry. But there's more to it than just talk. Through email, phone and face-to-face meetings, I do what it takes to help church leaders understand and make use of our resources.

In many respects, I see my job as one of advocate. Obviously, I am an advocate for Augsburg Fortress, the ministry of publishing in the Lutheran Church. I believe that our Lutheran church needs a strong publishing ministry so that congregations can have easy access to resources that reflect our Lutheran theology and heritage. But, I am also an advocate for congregations. Several times per month I call or email editors at Augsburg Fortress, telling them about the needs of congregations in my territory. With this information, Augsburg Fortress can produce materials that meet the needs of Lutheran congregations.

Why do I do this? I love the church. As a life-long Lutheran, a former youth director and a seminary graduate, I sought a job where I could live out my dedication to the church and make use of my knowledge of parish ministry. I like to think that in some small way I am positively impacting the ministry of Augsburg Fortress and of Lutheran congregations from Northern Virginia through New England.
