Purpose: To encourage the writing and distribution of regional newsletters and to provide them with support from the national level by requiring the national officers of the Lutheran Student Movement—USA (LSM-USA) to write material twice a year.
Whereas, St. Paul writes in I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought,” and again in Colossians 2 verses 2 and 3, “2My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, 3in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge;”
Whereas, Lutheran Student Movement—USA (LSM-USA) members are spread out across the United States of America;
Whereas, LSM-USA is trying to unite our voice so students may be heard by the Lutheran Church; and
Whereas, communication is essential in meeting a united objective.
Therefore be it resolved that:
1. LSM-USA continues to encourage LSM regions to publish and widely distribute regional newsletters,
2. All three members of each year’s executive committee write a short statement to be posted on the LSM-USA website twice a year by January 15 and August 15, for the purpose of regional newsletter editors having information to publish directly from the National Council leaders,
3. LSM-USA should consider revisiting this legislation in three (3) years and adjust it as necessary.
