A position paper on the war against Iraq

As a group of students attending the Celebrate conference, we feel called to raise our voices in concern to an ongoing war against Iraq.  As Catholics, Lutherans, Episcopalians, Disciples of Christ, United Church of Christ, Pan-Methodists, Baptists, the World Student Christian Federation, International Movement of Catholic Students, and Presbyterians we have been raised in traditions of a loving God.  We are committed to loving our neighbors as ourselves, including our brothers and sisters in Iraq, regardless of faith.  Therefore, we as Christian students resolve the following:

  1. We advocate for politics of compassion in the United States.
  2. We urge students to work towards peace with justice on our campuses and in the world.
  3. We beseech our leaders to act with moral responsibility and to pursue open dialogue with hopes of a diplomatic, peaceful resolution.

May peace prevail on Earth!

We seek the endorsement of the legislative assembly of LSM-USA, which would lend credence and support to members of this movement and the movement of our ecumenical brothers and sisters.
