AN AMENDMENT TO THE BYLAWS TO CLARIFY
AFFILIATION PROCEDURES AND ELIMINATE AD HOC GROUPS
WHEREAS past affiliation procedures dictated the maintenance of an unnecessarily confusing and complicated database by the national staff intern, and
WHEREAS a more systematic affiliation process has been introduces which simply requires all schools to renew their affiliation at the opening of each gathering, thus eliminating paperwork and providing annually updated information on all affiliates, and
WHEREAS current operating practices permit any student to affiliate his or her school at the gathering, regardless of the number of students present from that school or whether the school was previously affiliated, and
WHEREAS the Bylaws should reflect current operating practices,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that ARTICLE I - Membership, item A now read:
Voting members of LSM-USA shall include any group which is comprised essentially of individuals who are recognized to be enrolled in one or more of the instructional programs of any institution of post-secondary education in the United States, and which declare affiliation with lSM-USA in writing at the annual conference prior to the opening of the Legislative Assembly. This affiliation shall be maintained for one year until the following Legislative Assembly.
THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that ARTICLE II - Voting Procedures, item B, be deleted.
