1991 Approved Resolution #4 (91-4)

 

Resolution to Expand the Audience that Receives Copies of LSM-USA Passed Legislation

 

WHEREAS, as a national student Christian organization, the Lutheran Student Movement makes a genuine effort to state its beliefs through its legislative process; and

 

WHEREAS, LSM-USA has a calling to make its beliefs known to those organizations and individuals which can affect policies and decisions in the subjects that are related to the passed legislation of LSM-USA; and

 

WHEREAS, all legislation is currently sent only to the Department for Campus Ministry of the ELCA, and any other addresses which the author desires; and

 

WHEREAS, the beliefs of LSM-USA as expressed in its passed legislation should be shared with a larger group of individuals and organizations so that these beliefs are heard by a larger, more diverse population; and

 

WHEREAS, an added benefit of sending copies of passed legislation to a larger audience would be, at the very least, a promotional statement indicating that LSM-USA is involved in discussing issues that are important in today's world, that LSM-USA represents a large, educated, population, and that LSM-USA is making an effort to make its voice heard

 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED,

1. That LSM-USA National Council create a list of addresses to which all legislation will be sent, and that this list includes, but is not limited to, the following individuals and organizations;

The Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) President of Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS) President of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) Division for Higher Education and Schools-ELCA Department for Campus Ministry-ELCA

Lutheran Student Foundation (LSF)

Lutheran Student Movement-Canada

World Student Christian Federation (WSCF)

Council for Ecumenical Student Christian Ministry (CESCM)

United States Secretary of Education-U.S. Department of Education

 

2. That all passed legislation from this gathering and all subsequently passed legislation be promptly sent to these above addressees as well as those requested by the author and that these mailings be accompanied by a letter of introduction, to be drafted by the President and Secretary of LSM-USA, stating LSM-USA's mission statement and purposes of legislation.
