Resolution Encouraging LSM-USA Involvement in Introducing
More Diverse Forms of Worship in Home Congregations


WHEREAS, LSM-USA is an organization formed from diverse Lutheran traditions; and

 

WHEREAS, the uniting of these traditions is reflected and is always maintained as a central part of planned worship; and

 

WHEREAS, LSM-USA, in striving to become an inclusive organization, seeks to be more responsive to a wider segment of society by offering diverse forms of worship* as a part of planned worship; and

 

WHEREAS, it is recognized that there are local Lutheran congregations along with LSM-USA that are already implementing diverse forms of worship as part of planned worship; and

 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that LSM-USA do the following:

 

1. That LSM-USA encourage Lutheran church bodies to continue examining how diverse forms of worship could be implemented in the Lutheran church.

 

2. That LSM-USA National Council continue to examine and implement diverse forms of worship that can be implemented at national assemblies.

 

3. That LSM-USA Regional representatives encourage affiliate schools to examine and implement diverse forms of worship at regional retreats and other regional gatherings.

 

4. That Campus Ministers be encouraged to examine diverse forms of worship that could be implemented on the local campus level.

 

THEREFORE BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that members of LSM-USA should take an active role in examining how diverse forms of worship could be implemented for the betterment of their home congregations.

 

*Diverse Form of Worship Examples - Detroit Folk Mass, African Freedom Song service, multicultural worship services, etc. Or as the congregation sees fit.
