1990 Approved Resolution #2
PROPOSAL FOR ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERN AND REFORM
WHEREAS, we are called by God in Genesis 1:28 to be stewards of God's creation; and
WHEREAS, the environmental deterioration has reached an international crisis of epidemic proportions; and
WHEREAS, LSM-Illinois has taken part in a retreat concerning the
issues of environmental awareness, and many members who were present were so moved to action that they wrote to local political figures and environmental advocate organizations urging environmental reform;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the members of LSM-USA:
1. Educate themselves on environmental issues including, but not limited to, air, water, and land pollution, polystyrene, recycling, deforestation, global warming, waste management and many other related issues; and
2. Write to political figures, such as senators, governors, and other governmental representatives, and to large organizations, such as businesses, universities, and other institutions, on national, state, and local levels urging environmental reform;
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that educational programs on environmental issues and concerns be required at LSM-USA National Gatherings and highly encouraged at regional and local levels.
