86-B (2)                         Amendment to the LSM-USA Bylaws to include a Definition of “Student”

 

WHEREAS LSM-USA recognizes its membership to be primarily students, and

 

WHEREAS neither the LSM-USA Constitution nor the LSM-USA Bylaws contain a clear definition of student, and

 

WHERAS a definition of “student” is necessary for determining eligibility for elected offices and student advisors,

 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the LSM-USA Bylaws be amended to include the following:

               

                Article XII -  DEFFINITION OF “STDENT”

               

                A student is any person who is attending an institution of higher learning or fulfills one of the following requirements:

 

                1.  Cooperative education

 

                2.  Graduation in the year prior to the assembly

 

                3.  Leave of absence/deferral

 

                4.  Student teaching/internship

 

                5.  Matriculation (university paid student status)

The definition of matriculation which was given during the assembly was that a matriculated student is a person who is registered for school but not yet attending.
