RESOLUTION      84-5

 

AMENDMENT TO GUIDELINES FOR LEGISLATION

 

WHEREAS the delegates of the Lutheran Student Movement-USA are entitled to prepare themselves for debate on proposed legislation, and

 

WHEREAS much controversy usually surrounds the facts and figures of many social issues, knowing the sources of quoted information is vital to examining these issues intelligently, and

 

WHEREAS the documentation of proposed legislation would further establish the seriousness of the authors’ proposals and the validity of their arguments, and

 

WHEREAS authors did document their proposed legislation until 19791,

 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT Article IV of the Constitution of the Lutheran Student Movement-USA be amended to state:  “Authors shall properly footnote all fact in the legislation they propose to the Lutheran Student-USA.”
