RESOLUTION OF OVERSEAS AND MINORITY STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP FUND

BACKGROUND

For the past six years, LSM-USA national assemblies have been enhanced by the participation of overseas and minority students. These people have contributed a unique perspective by sharing with us their experiences and friendship. Through them and with them, we have been able to grow in the fellowship of the global Christian community.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT

  1. LSM-USA gratefully acknowledge the support of Lutheran World Ministries, and with special thanks to Pat Hayden, for giving a generous contribution in scholarship aid to LSM-USA for international students attending the assembly;

  1. LSM-USA request of Lutheran World Ministries that it sponsor its own scholarship students to the 1983 LSM-USA assembly;

  1. LSM-SUA set for itself the goal of raising $2,500 in the 1982-83 for the Scholarship Fund. This commitment will be publicized in a communication from the national office following the assembly;

  1. On the celebration of All Saints; Day, November 1, 1982, be the day local LSM-USA groups take an offering specifically designated for the Scholarship Fund. These offerings will be forwarded to the LSM-USA national office and placed into the special Scholarship Fund described here.
