81-4 RESOLUTION OF OVERSEAS AND

MINORITY STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP FUND

 

Background

 

For the past five years, LSM-USA national assemblies have been enhanced by the participation of overseas and minority students. These people have contributed a perspective by sharing with us their experiences and friendship. Through them and with them we have been able to grow in the fellowship of the global Christian Community.

 

Therefore BE IT RESOLVED

 

1. that LSM-USA gratefully acknowledge the support of Lutheran World Ministries, and with special thanks to Pat Hayden for giving scholarship aid to Lutheran World Ministries International Scholarship Students in the U.S. so that they could attend the LSM-USA national assembly.

 

2. that LSM-USA request of Lutheran World Ministries that similar scholarships be granted to Lutheran World Ministries Scholarship Students in the U.S. to attend the 1982 national assembly.

 

3. that LSM-USA set for itself the goal of raising of $2000 in 1981-82. This commitment by the members of LSM-USA will be publicized in a communication from the national office following the assembly.

 

4. that the celebration of the World Day of Prayer in February 1982 as the day LSM local groups take an offering specifically designated for the Scholarship Fund. These offering will be forwarded to LSM-USA national office and placed into the special Scholarship Fund described here.
