Minority and Overseas Student Scholarship Fund

LSM-USA thanks the American Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Church in America, and Lutheran World Ministries for their generous contributions toward a scholarship fund enabling overseas and minority students to attend our conferences.  A goal of raising $2000 dollars for this fund was approved.  The November 1979 celebration of All Saints’ Day and Ash Wednesday in February were designated as a time for special offerings to be collected by local groups and individuals specifically for the scholarship fund.

Actions Taken in Response

+    The October News Flash had an article reminding students of the All Saints’ Day offering for the scholarship fund.

+    $183.34 of the August 1979 assembly offering was contributed to the scholarship fund.

+    $1255.11 was received for the scholarship fund from individuals and affiliated LSM groups.  The Division for Mission in North America of the Lutheran Church in America provided $2000.00 in scholarship funds for overseas and minority students.

+    Thirty-three students will be able to attend the Joint Conference/Assembly in Winnipeg because of the scholarship fund.
