Resolution 79-1
Student-to-Student Ministries
LSM-USA recognizes that our complex society often leaves students feeling alone, trying to cope with conflicting values and lifestyles. Numerous organizations have promised relief from such anxieties, often using deceptive recruitment practices. Often rights to self-expression and individual choice are lost. Through the gathering of new resources LSM-USA strives to reach out to these fellow students in ministry.
Actions Taken in Response
+ A student-to-student ministry packet published by Campus Ministry Communications is available for use in local groups. Contact the national office for these packets, at a cost of $2.10 each.
+ Michigan State University has taken on the responsibility of coordinating information on student-to-student ministries. They have prepared a questionnaire asking about peer ministry on local campuses which is to be distributed to local groups this fall.
+ LSM-USA is taking on an intentional program of leadership development in accord with current emphasis on strengthening the total movement by strengthening the regions. The goal is to strengthening leadership within LSM-USA locally, regionally, and nationally by promoting annual regional leadership workshops and to identify leaders who may serve in the elected positions of LSM-USA. Through this leadership development program, the regional and local leadership of LSM-USA will be enabled to assume greater responsibility for outreach, stewardship, effective communication, and encouraging ownership of the regional and national LSM. This program will also assist the ongoing leadership development on local campuses.
