Dear Jeen:

Thank you for the expressed concern of the LSM Assembly for the African refugee problems.

The ALC supports refugees around the world in several ways. An annual World Hunger offering has provided several 'million dollars, much of which has been for refugee assistance. In addition, we have a regular support program for LWR and Lutheran World Service as well as to the Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services.

With these avenues for ongoing support we do not designate special Sundays unless this is something of extraordinary crisis which calls for a special move by the ALC and the other United States Lutheran churches.

If Lutheran World Service or Lutheran World Relief is giving special emphasis to the Sudanese situation, we will surely pro-vide avenues for distribution of materials.

If there are other suggestions you might offer, please feel free to send them.

God give you joy in your important work. Sincerely in Christ,
