            Dear Bill:

I am forever trying to catch up, but I want to take the time to express my appreciation to you for your letter of December 16th in which you express support of the LWF Assembly Resolution entitled “Youth and Students in the Life of the Lutheran Churches.” I recognize full well the difficulty which you point out in the Resolution of the LSM-USA with respect to increased representation or involvement of youth in the various commissions and committees of the LWF and of the National Churches. There is only one way to achieve that kind of equity and that is to keep pushing and plugging for it. People responsible for appointments must be aware of your desire for the involvement of youth. So, keep it up!

Steve Jacobs also sent me copies of resolutions passed by the Lutheran Student Movement and I deeply appreciate them even though I have had little opportunity to do much more than scan them. We shall try to find some way of surfacing those resolutions in units of our AELC. How that will all be possible at the moment, I am not sure, but we shall be aware and mindful of the direction in which the Lutheran Student Movement is going.

Once more, thanks and best wishes for the days ahead.

Yours,
