77-8     Resolution on Friends of Lutheran Student Movement

Whereas we, the 1977 LSM-USA Legislative Assembly, are grateful for the overwhelming pouring out of well-wishes and financial support from the Friends of LSM, and

Whereas we recognize these friends as having contributed a past history and witness for Lutheran students, and

Whereas we acknowledge their potential for significant input in various events in the continued life of LSM-USA:

Therefore Be It Resolved That:

1)         We express our thanks and appreciation to all those friends who have given of themselves their time and their possessions during the years they have been a part of our community by including a copy of this resolution in the LSM-USA’s next mailing to these friends.

2)         We express a special thanks to the Reverend Donald F. Hetzler for acting as this year’s honorary chairperson through a personal letter written by the President of LSM-USA.

3)         We encourage regional and local LSM-USA groups to include Friends of LSM in various events.

Actions Taken

+          Friends have continued to be on our minds and in our hearts throughout this year as they continue to support the movement.

+          Articles have appeared in the Fall ’77 and Winter ’78 issues of the LSM-USA newsletter especially thanking Friends for their support.

+          In a letter from the LSM-USA president, the Rev. Donald Hetzler was thanked for being the chairperson  of Friends and asked to continue in this role . He graciously accepted this position for another year.

+          It is expected that Friends of LSM will be more fully incorporated into LSM’s life by 1979-1980 through invitations to all regional and national events happening in their area.
