NAMIBIA

Whereas, the people of Namibia are living under the oppressive government of the Republic of South Africa;

Whereas, the United Nations has recognized Namibia as a free and independent nation;

whereas, the Lutheran Church in America has stated a position in support of the free nation of Namibia; and

Whereas, we share the believe of the Lutheran Church in America that the autonomy of the people of Namibia ought not to be taken away by imperialistic or paternalistic action on the part of the Republic of South Africa;

Be it resolved, that we support the Lutheran Church in America in their statement for Namibia;

and be it further resolved, that the executive council of the Lutheran Student Movement disseminate information concerning the Lutheran Church in America position and the issue in general through the Lutheran Student Movement newsletter;

and be it further resolved, that we place our concern for the Namibian people in the hands of God and petition Him through prayer to resolve the conflict.
