STATEMENT OF THE PARTICIPANTS OF THE LUTHERAN-ROMAN CATHOLIC STUDY CONFERENCE, Boulder, Colorado                                August 21, 1969

At our coming together at the Lutheran-Roman Catholic Study Conference in Boulder, Colorado, August 17-21, 1969, we have celebrated our unity as brothers in Christ, but we have also felt great anguish at the history and structures which divide His One Church.  We recognize the great struggle in process to heal this division and would offer the following recommendations for this work:

1.                  That all participants share their experiences with students and clergy of all denominations and encourage further dialogue on local and regional levels.

2.                  That information regarding local and regional activities be sent to the national offices of Lutheran and Catholic campus ministries, from which it can be disseminated to all local groups through their publications.

3.                  That the national Lutheran and Catholic student organizations consider the possibility of another national conference and that local and regional groups send their suggestions regarding this conference to the national organization.

4.                  That there be a compilation of references, conference materials, and bibliographies sent to campus ministries by the national offices of Lutheran and Catholic campus ministries.

5.                  That Lutheran and Roman Catholic students be active in shaping the policy decisions of their respective church bodies concerning unity.

We express our gratitude to the Conference Planning Committee, the chaplains, speakers, discussion and worship leaders, campus ministers, and national campus ministry offices, and the national church bodies for making this conference possible.
