Hello Blue Ridge Region!
HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope everybody had a wonderful holiday! I'm e-mailing you today to let you know about a few things going on in our region. First of all, as many of you know, we have our joint regional retreat with the GALSM Region (Gulf-Atlantic Lutheran Student Movement, comprised of SC, AL, MS, FL, and GA) taking place at the Coastal Retreat Center in Isle of Palms, SC, from February 4th-6th. The Official Title is "Grace: A Lutheran Student Movement Region 9 Spring Retreat." (I'm attaching a flyer with more information, but look to our facebook page for the event there, too!) It should be a really exciting event in a new location for us, and it'll be great to meet some of our brothers and sisters in Christ from another region of the country! I hope I get to see all of you there!
My second reason for this e-mail is to let all of you know that I have been elected to the position of Vice-President of Regional Development for Lutheran Student Movement-USA and need to step down from my role as regional president. Unfortunately, our regional constitution does not provide for this situation. Our regional council has discussed (with much help from our wonderful advisor Pastor Bill King from Virginia Tech) this issue, and until we can elect a new regional president at our retreat in February, Madison Lanier of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has been appointed as the Interim Regional President. Madison was at the retreat at Virginia Tech last spring and served on the Lutheran Student Movement-USA National Council when she took my place at the conference in Chicago this past August. Even though she'll only be in office a very short time, she's very excited about making our regional retreat a success and working with and meeting all y'all!
It is also very important for me to emphasize that I have been very blessed to serve as the Blue Ridge Regional President this past year and a half. It has been wonderful to meet and work with and for all of you. I'll still be in the region, along with attending the retreat in February, so I promise I'll still be in touch. If you ever have any need of me, please do not hesitate to contact me at my new official LSM-USA e-mail (lsmvicepresident@gmail.com) or my personal e-mail (emily.lynn.miller@gmail.com), as Madison will be taking over this e-mail. Thanks so much to all of you for your support!
God's blessings and love to all of you,
Emily Miller
Former LSM-USA Blue Ridge Regional President and Current LSM-USA VP of Regional Development
Hey Blue Ridge Region!
My name is Madison Lanier and I will be stepping in as interim regional president to help the affairs of the Blue Ridge Region run smoothly until a new regional president can be elected.
I want to invite all of you to attend the regional retreat at the Coastal Retreat Center in Isle of Palms, SC. The retreat will be based around the idea of grace, and we will look in depth at the topic with each other and words from Bishop Herman Yoos. (A flier with more information and a registration form can be found at http://www.mediafire.com/?r4g8wj9ydg27jw4 or check out the facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=158261890858459&ref=ts ! I would be glad to answer any additional questions!) A regional meeting will be held to discuss officers and plans for the upcoming year. Lutheran Student Movement is a wonderful opportunity for young people to make connections, make friends, and make a difference. I'd like to encourage you to consider getting involved with the organization, and we'd love to have a strong representation of the Blue Ridge Region since the GALSM region will be there as well. The weekend is sure to be both exciting and educational, and the time that we take to focus on God and His relationship with us will be refreshing after hectic semester beginnings.
Blessings and Peace,
Madison Lanier
LSM-USA Blue Ridge Interim Regional President
